2006 International Design Workshop
As a chosen representative of Carnegie Mellon, I spent 9 days in Taiwan working with two local students with the topic of "Enjoy : Beyond the 5 Senses." Our challenge was to rapidly develop a product concept over the course of 4 days. We decided to find a balance between my Eastern thinking and their Western design ideals by redesigning the tradition tea service in Taiwan. As it turns out, we discovered that there was a generation gap between the older generations, who appreciate the lengthy, traditional tea service, and the young, who prefer cheaper, sweeter teas. Our project evolved into a study of Taiwanese culture and how to bridge the generation gap.
The end result was a 15 minute presentation of our process, findings and design concept. The PDF is available for download here.
